1st Draft Storyboard
This is my rough storyboard attempt as draft for my final storyboard advertisement project.
𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒇𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏:
I'm creating an advertisement for Doritos, a famous American tortilla chip brand. I have planned and drew out the rough sketches for the final storyboard, including the details of camera shots/angles, movements, and the plot of the advertisement.
In this advert, there are 2 characters featured characters introduced; a boy and his dad. The boy is first seen slouching on the sofa while watching a horror movie (not shown in scene) and devours a bag of Doritos chips. A shot before this informs the audience that this storyline sets at 9 PM, which is considered a normal kid's bedtime. The kid's dad enters the room furious towards his son behavior. He then snatches the Doritos chip bag and scolds him to immediately goes to bed (out of frame). Intrigue by the flickering lights of
After a discussion with my teacher (Mr. Nick), we concluded that the first draft needs revising on the detailed explanation of each shot (needs more elaboration). For some shots (4 and 12), I need to draw the camera movements clearly. In this case, the use of the camera movement; push in, I need to draw the starting and final look of the shot and label it. Some shot labels are incorrect, thus the need of more elaboration is required for the final storyboard.
I personally think that I was able to draw this storyboard draft nicely, most of the shots are pictured well enough for viewers to understand. Although, there are several shots (11 and 14) that I struggled to draw since there are complex non-camera movements that are hard to draw with pencil. By that, I decided to leave it blank and instead add more writing (descriptions and elaboration), or I will draw simply what I can interpret from the scene and label the characters, props, and any other mise-en-scenes.
I also decided the final slogan to use for my advert, here are the options.
- "We all can't deny a midnight craving."
- "Savor the Moments. Share the chips."
- "Taste the Terror, Share the Thrills with Chips."
I decided to pick "Savor the Moments. Share the Chips" as it uses words like "moments" and "share" which implies inclusivity for the target audience. It also emphasizes on the Doritos Chips promotion.
